The Lion is a truly magnificent beast.
They have captured our imaginations for centuries. Stars of movies and characters in books, lions are the top of the African food chain. The Swahili word for lion, Simba, means "King," the word lion has similar meaning in our vocabulary. If you call someone lionhearted, you’re describing a courageous and brave person. If you lionize someone, you treat that person with great importance.
Litters of cubs normally consist of two to three cubs that weigh three pounds each, mothers carefully nurture their young. Often, females in the pride give birth at the same time and the cubs all get raised together in a crèche. Young lions have light spotting on their coats that will gradually disappear as they grow up.
